FIBER OPTIC CABLE INSTALLATION BY MOLE PLOUGH

For many years, the cable installation industry has been looking for a more time-effective cable laying method.
At the beginning of 1970's ,following a long period of study and research , this requirement was met by the introduction of the Mole Plough cable laying method.
The vibrating plough-share vibrates in a vertical direction, loosens the soil and cuts a clean narrow cable-laying trench through it.
The vibrating gearbox takes extreme care, particularly in rocky soil areas, to avoid any damage.
Due to the vibrating movement the content of fine sand in the rocky soil falls to the bottom of the trench with the larger debris moving to the surface so that the cable will always be surrounded and protected with fine sand.
No back filling is required. The cable drum is capable of handling drums up to 3000mm in diameter and 5000 kg in weight. It is also provided with a mechanical drum brake (essential when laying coaxial cables) as well as with an hydraulic powered engine which ensures a proportionate unreeling cable tension control to avoid stress on the cable (essential especially for fiber optic cables).
To control the laying depth on uneven surfaces, the plough is equipped with a purpose designed Pantograph type of unit, which ensures that the cable is laid always at the correct depth.
To allow Ploughing operation close to fences and boundaries, the cable laying section can be moved side ways.
The chute of the cable laying section is equipped with free wheeling rollers, and the maximum bending radius is one (1) meter. The section can be removed manually in case the plough strikes an obstacle and the cable can be exposed and taken out of the cable-laying chute, to allow the plough to be shifted above ground level, without damaging the cable.
All operations of the mole plough are carried out hydraulically.
The cable laying section is vibration-free and therefore suitable for all type of cables. The cable laying section can be detached and changed for any cable with different diameters.
