DIRECTIONAL DRILLING
SITAF SAUDIA has been respected for many years as a pioneer in the traditional
method of cable laying,and the acquisition of the latest trenchless technology
equipment put it firmly in the lead in its field.
The Ditch
Witch Jet Trac 8/60 can install underground cable, conduit and pipes
(steel, HDPE, etc.) beneath busy streets,motorways and sensitive areas
with little or no disruption to landscapes or structures.
Especially in urban areas, trenchless construction can significantly lower
overall costs of projects by eliminating a large work force and restoration
team that would be required by using the normal excavation method. This
is a significant factor in the race against time and costs associated
with this type of industry.
The Ditch Witch Jet Trac 8/60 is a remarkable, compact, maneuverable machine
and has the power to bore and pull back pipes up to 300mm diameter over
a distance of 100 meters in compatible soils including sand and rock.
The key features of this system are:
Extraordinary power in a self contained self-mobilizing system for long
distances.
Operational packages for high production directional boring through rock.
Highly secure anchoring system and fully mechanized pipe makeup / breakout.
Dual fluid tank system allows mixing in one tank while boring with fluid
from a second system.

Sub-site tracking system (to constantly monitor drilling head’s depth
and direction).
DIRECTIONAL DRILLING
The JetTrac system is totally portable and therefore can begin operating
at any given location in a short period of time.
As boring begins from the surface, a starting pit is not necessarily required.
Once operational, the electronic tracking equipment can monitor the direction,
depth and angle of the drill.
Certain geographical locations do not allow the external sub-site tracking
system to be used, (over water, superstructures) but the Jet Trac also
has two sub-site beacons positioned inside a protective compartment behind
the boring systems drill head. The signals emitted are monitored on surface
by the operator enabling directional boring continue under or through
any obstacles.
Once the bore route has been identified and the drill heads selected for
ground composite, minimal time is wasted as everything is incorporated
in the Jet Trac and its trailer. A stationary operator’s consolle
allows complete control of fluid pressures and pipe breakout with a self-loading
pipe rack maximizing output.
